For 30 years, AFC has been advocating for people living with HIV and AIDS and the communities hardest hit by the epidemic. Our policy and legislative initiatives work to improve services and programs for, and protect the rights of, people living with and vulnerable to HIV. With significant changes in political leadership both in Illinois and at the national level, the next several years will be pivotal for the HIV/AIDS community. Now more than ever, we need you to help ensure that new HIV infections are rare and people living with HIV thrive.

This page will serve as a centralized access point for actions you can take to get involved and stay involved at local and national levels, including funding for HIV services, the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, the AIDS Drug Assistance Program and our legislative initiatives. Check back regularly for important updates on actions and opportunities to make your voice heard.

Advocacy Days Logo 2017Join the resistance: Register for 2017 Advocacy Days

During this uncertain time for health care, our legislators must see our faces and hear our voices! Travel to Springfield with advocates from around the state to tell our elected officials they must work to pass a positive state budget that fully funds HIV/AIDS services and protect our access to affordable health care.

This year's Advocacy Days will be Tuesday, April 4 and Wednesday, May 17.

Pass a Positive Budget Logo 2016

We need a complete budget! Tell your legislators to Pass a Positive Budget.

This June, Governor Bruce Rauner and the Illinois General Assembly passed a short-term stopgap budget designed to get Illinois through December 2016. The stopgap budget contained less than half of critical appropriations as compared to FY 15.

Take action during this budget crisis by sending letters to your legislators.
