Welcome to my page!
As most of you know, I have spent the last year and a half working at Center on Halsted, the Midwest's most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people of Chicagoland. More than 1,400 community members visit the Center every day to receive social services and partake in community & cultural programming.
I work as a Health Educator in the HIV department. As a team, we conduct over 4,000 HIV tests each year both at our Lakeview location and throughout the city of Chicago via outreach. Sexual health, education, and awareness are at the core of the program and we are well-equipped to link individuals to care who test positive. Furthermore, we house the State of Illinois HIV/AIDS & STD Hotline, an integral resource in Illinois and the Midwest to provide free and confidential referrals and resources to over 9,000 callers a year.
Your support of Center on Halsted AIDS Run & Walk team ensures that we can continue to provide a high quality of service while reaching the greatest number of people possible, especially in a time of funding uncertainty for HIV/AIDS programming. Now, more than ever, it is important to demonstrate our support for our clients.
