Thanks for visiting our team page!
Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative (PACPI)'s mission is to eliminate deaths from pediatric AIDS and to reduce transmission of the virus from mothers to their children in the state of Illinois.
Pregnant women living with HIV have a 25% chance of transmitting the virus to their baby, but this rate can be reduced to less than 1% with the right treatment and support. PACPI helps mothers access the health care they need, achieve undetectable viral loads, have babies who are HIV-negative and connect to supports like insurance navigation, assistance with housing, access to education and linkage to public benefits and mental health services.
Because of our strong community support and collaboration, there were zero perinatal transmissions of HIV in the entire state of Illinois in 2016, meaning no babies were born HIV-positive!
Your support makes a huge difference in the lives of the mothers and babies we serve! Any contribution amount is appreciated:
$25 provides transportation for a mom to attend an extra medical appointment
$50 provides nutritious food for a family, essential to a healthy pregnancy
$75 provides a car seat for mom to take baby home from the hospital
$100 provides newborn gear like onsies, diapers, wipes, and formula
