Krista Yank AIDS Run Chicago 10K!
"Without community, there is no liberation." --Audre Lorde
Thanks for being here! My name is Krista, and as a Registered Nurse at Howard Brown Health, I am privileged to be part of an organization and an interdisciplinary team that provides radical, progressive, and truly holistic evidence-based care to Chicago's queer community in a way that is all to rare within the boundaries of modern healthcare.
I'm inspired by our patients every day, and am representing HBH in the AIDS Run Walk Chicago 10K this month as a means to provide them with excellence in care and resources. I am so proud to be a part of this organization, and to wrap my love of running into its mission.
If you can spare a dollar or a few toward our mission, or share my page to your friends and followers, I would be endlessly grateful - and I'll reward you with an inundation of pictures of the epic breakfast I'll eat after this race on your preferred social media (because I think we all know that there will be breakfast).
A bit about HBH, the care that we provide, and the importance of Howard Brown in the fight against health disparities:
"Howard Brown Health exists to eliminate the disparities in health care experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people through research, education and the provision of services that promote health and wellness. Howard Brown is a leader in HIV/AIDS care, prevention, research, and advocacy. As Chicago's LGBTQ community health center, we provide medical care to more than 2,600 people living with HIV/AIDS. Howard Brown is one of the top providers of PrEP in the nation. In 2015, we tested almost 9,500 people for HIV and linked 85% of the 132 people who tested positive to care within one month. YOU make our work possible! Thank you."
